QEM combines active management with a rules-based, quantitative approach to build its portfolio of large- and mid-cap companies from emerging economies. The fund looks for growth, value, quality, and risk characteristics. A minimum variance strategy is also used to minimize portfolio volatility. The fund may also invest in other ETFs in order to meet its objective. After selecting its portfolio holdings, QEM incorporates country, industry, group, sector, and individual security constraints to achieve portfolio diversification, liquidity, and risk mitigation. The portfolio is reconstituted and rebalanced on a monthly basis. Investors should note that frequent buying and selling of securities could lead to a high portfolio turnover.
